For covering spaces between the roof and the wall, in Lithuania or Scandinavia shaved or rough surface planks are used. Two edges of the visible side are rounded. This is from both, esthetic and practical points of view. Boards are not damaged while being transported or at the time while being fixed. They are fixed using woodscrews, leaving spaces of 3-4 milimetres among planks. This enables the roof (attic) to be naturally ventilated. Mostly shaved planks are used, because they are under the roof, so they don't suffer from harmful effects of direct sunlight and humidity.
